Mohiuddin Syed, President
Syed is the founder and Chief Instructor of Lion Budokan Karate International, New Zealand. He has over 30 years of Karate training experience in India and New Zealand. Syed is honoured to be trained under Budokan Karate International founder and Grand Master late Chew Choo Soot. Syed has also got an opportunity to train under the instruction of:

- Sensei Yamaguchi
- Master Fumio Demura
- Sensei Seiji Nishimura
- Hanshi Dave Butler
- Hanshi Chris Dessa (Ongoing)
Syed is a double master’s graduate in Computer Applications (Osmania University, India) and Business Management (Unitec, New Zealand). He believes Karate to be a complete life system rather than just a way of self defense.
Syed directs and runs a Web Development and Digital Marketing business, GlobalInfo Ltd in Auckland. He loves to play table tennis and Cricket.
Parvez Akbar, Vice President
Parvez began his career in 1995 as a Barrister and Solicitor in Fiji and has specialised in Employment Law and Employment Relations in New Zealand since 2002. He has successfully provided advice, support and representation at various levels in his specialist area, including Mediation, Employment Relations Authority, Employment Court and as assisting Counsel in the Court of Appeal. He is admitted to the High Courts of New Zealand, Australia and Fiji.
Parvez was Senior Solicitor in the Employers & Manufacturers’ Association (EMA) Legal team until 2011 where he provided legal support to a diverse group of businesses ranging from small employers to larger national, trans-Tasman and global organisations.
He then headed up the Employment Law and Health and Safety teams at Westpac NZ and NZ Post, respectively, after which he worked as an Employment Law Specialist, where he had provided advice, representation, coaching and training in his specialist field.
Parvez has been appointed the first Chief Executive Officer of the recently established Accident Compensation Commission in Fiji.
Taufil Omar, Secretary
Taufil is an active Board member of the Karate Budokan New Zealand Inc (KBNZ) and takes keen interest in Karate and has achieved the rank of Shodan (1st Dan) in the Budokan style. He views Karate as an alternative learning platform for both young and old – teaching real life transferable skills, self confidence and discipline. The club is a great forum for the local community to engage and to get together. Taufil has witnessed how the dojo students and parents have built lasting relationships over half a decade regardless of race, religion or culture.
He is a Barrister & Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia and practices as a commercial lawyer. A certified Governance Professional under Governance New Zealand, a division of the ‘icsa- Governance Institute UK’ established by Royal Charter in 1902 and holds Associate (ACIS) membership.
Taufil is also an Affiliate of the Society of Trust’s and Estates Practitioners UK (STEP).
He enjoys community work, jogging and loves the outdoors especially tramping and finds solace in the native forests of Aotearoa.
Hafsah Jehan, Treasurer
Hafsah is a Senior Website Developer at GlobalInfo Ltd. She began her career in 2006. Apart from Website Developer she also helps as Administrator in LBKI.
Hafsah did her graduation in Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Sciences.
In her leisure time, she loves sight-seeing, playing table tennis and learning Karate.
Mohammed Afsar Afzaly
Mohammed Afsar Afzaly, Masters in Computers a data security specialist settled in NZ from 1996 and worked for prestigious companies like Telecom/Gen-i aka Spark, Datacom, IBM and Westpac ISG. Privileged to be part of KBNZ and love Karate, Sports, nature, music and arts.
